Arsenal Transfer News Live: £20m Martinez Exit Done, Gunners Battle Leeds And Wolves For Mounir Chouiar, Ceballos ‘angry’ At Starting Xi Snub

By | On September 13, 2020

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is working hard to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League season, which gets under way this weekend.

The Gunners won the FA Cup in 2019/20 and again showed the potential they have under Arteta by beating Liverpool to win the traditional curtain-raiser for the new campaign, the Community Shield.

They need reinforcements, however, to close the gap on the top clubs in the league and they have already moved to make two big signings – bringing in forward Willian from Chelsea and defender Gabriel from Lille.

More deals are expected to follow with Thomas Partey rumoured to be Arteta’s top target and you can keep up to date with all the latest Arsenal news and gossip below…

It's a done deal for Arsenal, but not an incoming.

According to respected transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Emi Martinez's £20m exit to Aston Villa is completed and we are just waiting for an official announcement.

Arsenal have agreed to sell number two goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa in a stunning £20million deal, and the Argentine completed his medical at Villa Park on Saturday.

TCF Sports understands Martinez underwent his medical after being left out of the matchday squad for the Gunners’ Premier League opener against Fulham.

The 28-year-old impressed while stepping in for the injured Bernd Leno last season, keeping nine clean sheets in 23 games.

But he was replaced by the fit-again Leno for the Gunners’ first 2020/21 Premier League game, with the club’s number one taking back his shirt for the 3-0 demolition of Fulham.

It was a clear indication of Arsenal’s decision over their goalkeeper dilemma, after Martinez openly admitted he would seek a move away from the Emirates this summer after ten years at the club if not given a fair shot at regular football.

That was a promise the Gunners couldn’t keep and, according to TCF Sports transfer guru Alex Crook, they have agreed to sell him to Aston Villa for a free that could rise to £20m.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are set to replace the Argentine with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya with a £10m bid prepared for the 24-year-old Spaniard.

Mikel Arteta hands out two debuts and snubs Mesut Ozil as Arsenal team is confirmed for Premier League opener against Fulham

Willian and Gabriel Maghalhaes will make their Arsenal debuts against Fulham on Saturday as the new Premier League season gets under way. However, there is no room for Mesut Ozil in Mikel Arteta’s opening day squad despite the German playmaker declaring himself fit and available just days ago.
