Final Electoral Vote Tally is 306-232 After President-Elect Joe Biden Wins Georgia

By | On November 14, 2020

The former vice president's victory brings his electoral vote tally to 306, matching Trump's 2016 total. Biden has now flipped five states that were previously Republican. CNN also projected Trump to win North Carolina, bringing the final tally to 306 for Biden and 232 for Trump.

While Trump had an early lead in Georgia, Biden surged after grassroots organizers, like Stacey Abrams, rallied voters in the state.

CNN has projected Joe Biden to win Georgia, making him the first Democrat in 28 years to win that state.

"We have been working at this for more than a decade. And there have been dozens of organizations and hundreds of people who've made this their primary mission," Abrams said. "I have been privileged to be able to bring to bear resources, both before the election of 2018 and then the $40 million we were able to spend in 2018 to build a Democratic infrastructure that may not have yielded a victory for me in 2018, but certainly yielded a victory this week."

Biden is the first Democratic nominee to win in Georgia since Bill Clinton did it in 1992. The state began an audit on Thursday morning since the race was so close. The audit is expected to be completed next week although the Trump campaign can request a hand count.a
